Burundi, Youth for Christ, seeks to transform the youth of our country to become leaders of integrity through the principles of discipleship. Although our country is torn by many years of war and poverty, there is a new hope arising, and it is arising amongst the youth in the Church. Hundreds and thousands of young people seek meaning in the Church of Jesus Christ. These young people need to be nurtured and trained to become people of integrity who can lead their peers by example.
Some of the ways we do this is through ministries in the capital city, Buujumbura. We have small groups of young people throughout the city who meet together to study God's word and become agents of transformation in their communities. Some of our volunteers lead small groups in high schools where young people are trained to become leaders of integrity.
Our most exciting projects are the two children's home sites at Gitega and Cibitoke. Here, we are creating centres where hundreds of children can find a home, and where we can play a transformational role in surrounding communities through schools and medical clinics. Through these sites, we hope to impact the lives of thousands of people with the message of hope and reconciliation through Jesus Christ.
